Court Surfacing Standard Process
1. Patch Binder and Crack Fill:
Objective: Repair cracks and holes to restore the court’s surface integrity. Quality Standards:
Crack and Hole Repair: Ensure all cracks and holes are completely filled with patch binder.
Application: Apply binder evenly to prevent uneven patches. Smooth out the filler with a suitable tool.
Curing: Allow the binder to fully cure as per manufacturer recommendations before proceeding.
2. Adhesion Promoter:
Objective: Enhance the bond between the resurfacer coating and the existing surface. Description: An adhesion promoter is a primer applied to improve the adhesion of subsequent coatings to the surface, ensuring that the resurfacer coating adheres properly and lasts longer. Quality Standards:
Application: Apply the adhesion promoter evenly across the entire court surface where the resurfacer coating will be applied. Use a roller or sprayer for uniform coverage.
Drying Time: Allow the adhesion promoter to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions before proceeding with the resurfacer coating.
3. Resurfacer Coating:
Objective: Create a smooth, even surface for the color coating. Quality Standards:
Mixing: Thoroughly mix resurfacer coating ingredients to ensure consistency.
Application: Apply the resurfacer evenly across the entire court using a squeegee or similar tool.
Inspection: Check for and correct any uneven areas or imperfections immediately.
4. Color Coatings:
Objective: Provide the court with its final color and appearance. Quality Standards:
Application: Apply the color coating evenly to prevent streaks or blotches. Use proper techniques and tools to ensure a consistent finish.
Adhesion: Ensure the color coating adheres well to the resurfacer coating underneath.
Drying: Allow adequate drying time as specified by the coating manufacturer.
5. Line Painting:
Objective: Mark the court with clear, accurate lines according to the sport’s specifications. Quality Standards:
Lines: Paint lines straight and true to avoid confusion during play. Use guides or templates to maintain accuracy.
Dimensions and Positions: Verify that line dimensions and positions are correct and adhere to the sport’s regulations.
Definition: Ensure lines are well-defined and contrast clearly against the color coating.
6. Overall Quality Assurance:
Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections after each step to ensure compliance with quality standards. Issue Resolution: Address any issues immediately to prevent complications later in the process. Workspace Maintenance: Keep the workspace clean to avoid contamination and ensure a high-quality finish.
